Railway transportion is the most important mode of Chinese transportation. With the increasing demanding for electrified rail transport, power capacity demands of traction substation constantly increasing too. Because of the frequent increasing and volatility demanding in transport, the designing and construction for a new electrified railway line become great challenges. If the line is designed for the recent ability, it will be revamped in a very short period of time. If the line is designed for the long-term, it will wast power supply capacity、first investment and operating costs (such as electricity charge).In this paper, we choose the right transformers wiring、transformers capacity and power supply mode of traction network. It will realize flexible traction power supply by controlling transformers investment capacity and power supply mode of traction network. The investment capacity of transformer will realize the optimal economy by meeting the traffic growth. The choosing in a variety of power supply mode of traction network will realize the optimal economy by meeting the minimum investment.Examples are choosed to analysis calculate at the fourth chapter in this paper. We calculate the traffic volume of future year by cubic exponential smoothing method. If one power supply mode cannot meet the requirements, we will switch it to another mode. The major consideration is the arm terminal voltage. With the increasing of year projection, current in the power supply arm will steady growth. With the increasing of current, the loss of voltage in power supply arm and the transformer became bigger. At this current of the power supply arm on the train, the traffic volume can be calculated. According to known volume we know what year it is. We can know what year switch one power supply mode to another power supply mode by comparison between calculated and predicted annual volume. The voltage of the arm will get a less loss.The research on the new flexible power supply mode is important. Economic benefits and feasible of the design are verified. It will provide a theoretical basis for the application of design.
