The rapid economic development results in a fact that the number of energy demand increases continuously at present. At the same time, the shortage of traditional energy supply and the corresponding environmental pollution have become a serious worldwide problem. Solar energy is considered as a kind of clean and renewable energy and has been used to drive the building equipments and the related systems. The application of solar energy is the focus of study in the building region of energy-saving due to its characteristics of energy-saving, environmental protection, utilization of renewable energy, etc.In order to make full use of the abundant solar energy resources in Lanzhou region, reduce the use of traditional fossil fuels, and realize the requirements of environmental protection and energy conservation, a solar warm air heating system for the mechanical processing building is proposed in this paper based on the technologies of solar and heating. By numerical simulation and analysis, this heating system driven by solar energy is feasible for the industrial buildings in Lanzhou area. The main results in this research are as follows:1. On the basis of the technologies of solar and heating, the principle and composition of the solar warm air heating system are introduced and analyzed.2. A solar warm air heating system is designed for a mechanical processing building in Lanzhou area that is selected as the research objective. The numerical simulation on the variation of key running parameters of this solar warm air heating system is executed by TRNSYS software. The results indicate that the proposed heating system can meet the heating requirement of industrial buildings in winter and has a application potential.3. From indicators of technology, economy, energy saving, and environmental protection, etc, a comparison of this solar warm air heating system with the traditional heating system is carried out. The results show that although the initial investment cost of this solar warm air heating system is higher than that of the traditional heating system, it has some advantages of low operation cost, the advanced technology, the effect of energy conservation and reduction of pollutant emissions, etc.The research in this paper verifies the feasibility of the combination of solar and heating technology to design the corresponding heating systems, which can solve the winter heating problem of industrial buildings in northern area.
