Trapped vortex combustor (TVC) is presented as a new type of combustion technology with a high combustion efficiency, high flame stabilization and low pollution emission. TVC will produce two vortices in the cavity contrasting with conventional stable combustion technology: one vortice serves to the main combustion, the other serves to stable ignition. Vortex is formed behind bluff body. The main flame is ignited by flame on duty from the trapped vortex, which achieves high-efficiency and low emission. In this thesis the numerical simulation of the annual structure TVC under the combustion condition with hydrogen fuel have been carried out, beside the characteristic of flow characteristics, cavity flame stability and pollution emission is analyzed. The results show that the combustion can be steadily maintained when the equivalence ratio is between0.5and0.65in the scheme of cavity without gas injection. As the ratio increasing, the outlet temperature, NOx emission, total pressure loss coefficient become increase. In the annual TVC cavity with gas injection, compare to the cavity without gas injection vortex structure is more symmetrical, combustion is more stable, temperature distribution more homogeneous. In the scheme of slotting bluff body compare to the cavity with gas injection make the vortex structure symmetrical, temperature distribution more homogeneous and emission of NOx lower.
