The safety of drinking water problem is the most serious environmental problems in China, it is directly related to people’s lives and health. In order to avoid the hidden safety problems of drinking water what the water pollution caused, drinking water disinfection plays a very important role in water induced disease, improve process control of microbial safety. Mechanism of advanced oxidation process is to produce hydroxyl radicals (-OH) through different pathways. Hydroxyl radical have obvious effect in drinking water treatment, the control is simple, strong oxidizing ability, non selective, fast reaction speed, high treatment efficiency, degradation of toxic organic pollutants completely harmless, no two pollution and other advantages show great development potential in drinking water treatment.In this paper, based on the air pressure electric discharge, using the advanced oxidation technology to produce high concentrations hydroxyl free radicals of active oxygen free radicals, experiments on the killing time and doses to Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis var.niger were carried out in the water, from the leakage of protein and SEM on the killing mechanism were explored, and killing experiments in a source of drinking water reservoir in Dalian City raw water, which prove the effectiveness of advanced oxidation technology for drinking water disinfection.(1) The artificial water distribution experiments ruled out the effects of turbidity and organic matter, only considering the effects of killing activity of oxygen free radical on the bacterial dose and time, when the concentration of TRO is0.7mg/L, the reaction time is30s, the concentration of Escherichia coli is1x105cfu/mL in the experimental water and the killing rate can reach100%; when the concentration of TRO is6mg/L, the reaction time is20min, Bacillus subtilis var.niger spores concentration is1x104cfu/mL in the experimental water and the killing rate can reach100%. (2) Experimental analysis of raw water show different change trend of the temperature change in a year of the raw water turbidity, COD, total bacteria, total coliform bacteria, heat-resistant coliforms, and Escherichia coli. Aiming at the water quality in the year’s best and worst two months in March and August of the raw water treatment experiments, in March, when the TRO concentration is0.8mg/L, the indicators can reach the national standard; in August, when the TRO concentration is1.2mg/L, the indicators can reach the national standard.(3) The leakage of Proteins experiments and scanning electron microscope experiments show that the activity of oxygen free radicals can affect the functions of the cell wall and membrane of Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, breaking the barrier function, increasing the cell permeability, making the substance from intracellular to extracellular. At last, cell death due to lack of necessary material of metabolism.
