The turbocharger has the congenital advantage of the energy conservation andemissions reduction and the environmental protection. At the same time, after beingassembled,we found that the improvement of the power performance is particularlyobvious, especially under the high speed condition, the output performance seems to bereally commendable. As the key subsystem of the engine system, the turbocharger canlargely determine the evaluation of the performance of an engine by judgingwhether it would be efficient and reliable, the quality of the vibration effect and thestrength would be excellent, the body fatigue life woule be reasonable. In this paper we firstly carried out ANSYS analysis of the turbine inlet pressureto get the pressure load over the impeller. Then we used the CATIA V5modelingsoftware to establish a certain type of the entity model of a supercharger. And then wesimplified the model processing, at the same time, imported the model into analysissoftware to analyze it’s strength. We did all these work to analyse the characteristics ofthe main stress distribution on the impeller. Then during the strength analysis, weused the software to complete the structure optimization design of the impeller. Basedon the optimized size we built a new impeller which is more reasonable inperformance. Then modal analysis was carried out on the rotor of the turbocharger verifyingthe feasibility that if the rotor body, which was optimized after the strength analysisfrom the aspects of vibration characteristics, could be used. Modal analysis is the basisof the vibration analysis, mainly including the natural frequencies and naturalvibration mode analysis. Put the optimized model into ANSYS workbench for modalanalysis. After the completion of the work, we identified that the testing institutions iswell suitable for the technical requirements in natural frequency.
