The quality and performance of key components such as the drive axle and transmission,etc., as important components of the car, will directly affect the overall reliability andperformance of the car. After the completion of the trial components, the reliability andperformance of the holistic and relevant parts needs to be inspected and verified. Therefore,laboratory life test of the automotive driveline components is its indispensable part of thedevelopment phase. Various problems that may arise in designing, processing, materials,etc., will likely lead to a variety of failures in the test. If you can’t find it in time and takemeasures, it will not only affect the final test results, but also make injury to the testequipment and personnel.Our task is to establish a set of fault diagnosis system for the drive axle andtransmission test benches of Jilin University fatigue test car laboratories. Based on driveaxle and transmission signal failures characteristics and signal processing, by detecting thevibration signal of the cabinet, under the premise of non-stop running and withoutunpacking, we want to realize the function of real-time monitoring and fault detection of thetest bench. It’s able to give warning at the initial time and make fault diagnosis. Thepreparation building of the system’s hardware and software systems has completed. It can beused in a relatively simple way. It has been tested on the test bench and achieved initialsuccess. After the application of the fault diagnosis system, serious damage to the specimenoccurred is greatly reduced. It can protect the test device itself and improve the effect of theexperiment. During the test, the detection does not have to be manually performed by thetest personnel. Thus it reduces the personnel work intensity, while protecting the equipmentand personnel. In the application process we accumulated a large number of data, whichcould provide support for further research and improvement of the system in the future. Firstly, we comprehensively summarize the common faults of the drive axle andtransmission and analyze its characteristics and mechanism. Then we study on the methodsof time-domain signal analysis, frequency domain analysis, and Hilbert transformprocessing systematically in order to interpret the signals. On the basis of signal processing,the fault diagnosis system is established. It’s introduced from both hardware and softwareaspect. In the introduction all the equipment are involved, and the selection and use of thesensor is described in detail. Software is mainly described on the user interface and theprocedures for processing. Then, based on the analysis of the characteristics of the faultsignals, we can determine the cause of the fault’s location and severity by the signalprocessing results, combining the specific configuration of axle and transmission. Finally,we describe specific test procedures of the transmission fatigue test bench and the dataprocessing step in detail. Finally the reliability and usefulness of this diagnosis system isverified.
