With the continuous development and improvement of human society, scientific andtechnological level and the people’s living standard, the auto industry has been playing amore and more important role in the people’s life, work and study, at the same time, it hadalso brought more and more serious problems of energy and environment. Compared withgasoline engine, the diesel engine has higher compression ratio, wider concentration rangeof combustible mixture, lower fuel consumption and higher thermal efficiency, whichaccounts for its substantial popularization in the developed countries of European andAmerican area. In our country, the application of diesel engines in engineering machineryhas been developing rapidly. The combustion mode makes it impossible for the dieselengine to burn completely, so there would produce emission pollutants inevitably such asNOxand PM, CO and HC, compared with gasoline engines, the CO and HC emissions ofdiesel engines are lower, the main discharge of diesel engines are NOxand PM emissions.the main control direction of diesel engines are NOxand PM, EGR and the injectionparameters are the key technologies of diesel engines which effects the performance andemissions.This paper studied the effects of EGR and jet parameters on the performance of dieselengines based on an engineering machinery (the CY6D180-C3-FD diesel engineproduced by Chaoyang Chaochai Power Co. LTD.). For the steady-state performance,it ismainly based on the test research: in the research of injection system, studied the influencerules of different injection parameters (injection pressure, injection timing) on the engineincluding performance, fuel economy and emission characteristics. And jointing withcontrolling of injection parameters, obtained the optimized compromised performances ofemissions and efficiency, conducted the study of different injectors matching withprototype performance, conducted in-depth analysis of the effects of injectors on engine comprehensive performance and assessed its application potential. In the research of thepressurization system matching with the prototype, adjusted and studied the effects ofdifferent turbochargers on the main compromised performance indexes of engines,comprehensively evaluated the match performance and application value; in the exhaustgas recirculation (EGR) technology research, studied the EGR flow performance of theprototype, the role of EGR rate on NOxand PM emissions, analyzed the rule of NOxemission reduction and the smoke increasing under the influence of EGR rates in the mainemission control condition, the effects of EGR and injection parameters on the economyand power performance, compromised and optimized it comprehensively, studied theoptimization of EGR inter-cooled on the engine performance; Finally, based on the aboveresearch, obtained the key technology of the prototype of engineering machinery whichachieved the diesel Tier3emission standards, and put forward the optimization plan andstrategy for further development.For the transient operating conditions of diesel engines, using the AVL FIRE andAVL BOOST for one-dimensional and three-dimensional/joint calculation: simulated thetransient conditions with load torque, studied the influence of the transient conditions onthe temperature field, soot emission, NOxemission; studied the transient conditions withload torque, analyzed the influence of different transient rates; studied the effects ofdifferent rail pressure on the properties of heavy duty diesel engines in transient operatingconditions and effects of different EGR valve openings on the properties of heavy dutydiesel engines.
