The electromagnetic cloak has attracted tremendous intrest of researchers, and metamaterials based on transformation optics theory has developed greatly. The metamaterials enjoy parameters that are unavalibal in nature, and are able to control the elctromagnetic wave and some other innovative properties. This article begins with the metamaterials that are based on transformation optics, the further exploit of the application of electromagnetic cloaking, illusion, anti-cloaking and some other related areas are represented. Also, the correspnding simulations and experiment verifications are conducted. The main point of this article is listed as below:A simpler calculation in the anisotropic dc unit cells, which is based on the theory of classical electromagnetic. Resistors in anisotropic dc unit cells in the cylindrical coordinate system can be calculated by two approaches:approximate and accurate model. We give the two models and compare their performances with numerical simulations. Our data show the two methods can produce very similar results.A new kind of dc illusion device is proposed, which is based on the theory of transformation optics. Numerical simulations are carried out to support the design. Analytical results are given for the dc illusion device and the comparison with the simulation results is demonstrated. We designed the dc illusion device by using the anisotropic dc unit cells. After experiment on the testing, the test results were compared with the simulation results.Also, we have design a dc anti-cloak in the similar way, and some related simulation and experiment is conducted to veryify the correctness. By studying the transfer characteristic of this anti-cloak, a model of negative resistor is put forward, which successfully solves the nonexistence of negative reisistor.Using the resistor network, an dc anti-cloak is fabricated and tested,the experiment results agree well with the simulation result.Our study shows that optical transformation is a powerful method to design new electromagnetic devices, which can be realized using metamaterials. However, it is of great importance to optimize the material parameters for the sake of easy fabrication. We also show that metamaterials can provide the controllability on electromagnetic waves and the deep research in this area can surely enrich the breadth and depth of the classical electromagnetic theory. Moreover, the pursue for broadband, low loss and isotropic unit cells is an urgent need for the application of metamaterials.
