Research On The Comparation Of Application Between ArcGIS And AutoCAD In The Urban Planning

With the rapid economic and social development, the rise of urban construction boom,the concept of "digital city" has been recognized by more and more cities,so the urban methods and tools demand higher requests. But currently, the Urban Master Planning Establishment facing complex information, more repetitive work, low efficiency, and other follow-up work can not be efficiently cohesive. In this paper, by comparing the AutoCAD and ArcGIS software applications and features in the process of urban planning, trying to find to combine the advantages of both, in order to achieve the quality and efficiency of the preparation of the master plan to enhance scientific rationality of planning, to achieve preparation of management of the combined planning purposes.First of all, as a theoretical basis for the entire course of the study, this paper sets out the contents of the urban planning, urban planning outcomes requirements, AutoCAD and GIS related content, detailed analysis the development process and application content of the AutoCAD and ArcGIS in the urban planning.Taking Ningyuan town Dingxi county for example,the planning requirements are regarded as the essential goal,comparising the application of AutoCAD and ArcGIS during the various stages in the urban planning, demonstrating the specific ideas and planning steps of ArcGIS modeling,thus analyzed advantages of both softwares, obtained the process in urban planning with ArcGIS which assisted by AutoCAD.
