Fold area is a special geological structure, geological activity. When tunnel through the fold structure, stability of surrounding rock will become the issues to consider. A variety of factors influence the stability of surrounding rock. how to ensure the stability of surrounding rock and choose a suitable location to build a tunnel in the fold area becomes an important issue.In this paper the advantage study and theories about the stability of surrounding rock were reviewed, and the factors affecting the stability of surrounding rock has been analyzed. A brief introduction about the trends of surrounding rock stability studies and rock stable future judgment basis has been presented. The influence of groundwater, rock stress on the stability of surrounding rock is analyzed. Tunnel LINING in the anticline, wing, and syncline of the folding structure are systematically analyzed. Folding structure becomes the main place of groundwater enrichment migration due to its special geological structure characteristics. According to the special structure and location, the movement rule of groundwater in the anticline, wing, and syncline of the folding structure are systematically analyzed. The presence of groundwater creates the water-rock interaction, and the physical, chemical and mechanical effect on rock mass that produced in the process of the groundwater s movement has been analyzed. The results can provide a reference and guidance for line selection and the stability of surrounding rock. Second, because of the special structure in the form of folding area. the stress and strain distribution in different parts of the rock has been analyzed. The model is simplified base on the on the particularity of each part of fold region. The stress of surrounding rock and tunnel lining structure has calculated base on the elasticity theory. The location of tunnel is base on the form of stress and the size of foree. Finally the tunnel surrounding rock stress in folding area and the force in LINING will be analyzed base on the numerical method. Verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis base on the numerical simulation.
