Gas insulated switchgears (GIS)is an import equipment in power system, but thereliable operation of basin insulator is the necessary condition of normal operation of GIS.This paper summarizes some problems exposed in insulator operation of GIS; this papercarries out research on the insulation failure caused by local electric field distortioninduced by electric field angle on bubble in epoxy resin for current insulator researchfocus.Due to the rapid development of computer technology in recent years, the applicationcalculation level for electric field obtained large extent of improvement, and the accuracyof calculation has already satisfied the engineering demands for a long time. This paperintroduces finite element method, describes three-dimensional electric field valuesimulation principle, and introduces strong electric field analysis software ANSYS appliedin this method.It uses finite element method to establish two dimensional and three dimensional800kv basin-type insulator and establishment bubble model at different position of epoxyresin, simulating the bubble produced by epoxy resin during pouring process, itrespectively analyzes the distortion situation of bubble at different size and differentposition under power frequency voltage; it compared the distortion situation of twodimensional and three-dimensional bubble model on electric field.Discharge along dielectric surface is one of the main reasons of basin insulatoroccurring malfunction. This chapter establishes the three-dimensional time-domainmathematical model of lightning transient electric field calculation of basin insulatorexisting bubble defect, it compares the radial electric field and tangential electric field intensity along surface when there is or there is no bubble defect. It mainly analyzes theinfluence of bubble on tangential electric field intensity along surface when it is indifferent electric field region and different distance. And it obtains the regular of theinfluence of bubble on tangential electric field intensity along surface.
