The transmission and distribution of the power system is three-phase, since the early20thcentury. Most of electric machine adjustable speed drives are made up of three-phase electricmachine and three-phase converter. But the traditional position in the three-phase motor has sufferedsome occasions to some extent and impact of the system such as in the case of high power rating andlower per phase voltage and which required high reliability. In contrast, the new system will not onlybe able to take advantage of multi-phase motor power devices, but also can improve the stability andreliability of multiphase redundant structure governing system. So, the exploring of the multi-phasemotors get more attention.In addition, the application of marine electric propulsion and motor and other electricdrive vehicles drive motor, induction motor need to have small size and light weightadvantages in shape, and a higher torque density and efficiency in performance, as well ashigher endurance power capability. Therefore, try to inject the third harmonic the statorvoltage, in which the motor so as to improve the torque density through non-sinusoidalpower supply.In this paper, five-phase induction motor as the main object of study, conductedin-depth research, including the following aspects:1. On the development of multiphase motor made more comprehensive overview,describes the characteristics of current research and research progress of non-sinusoidalsupply of electricity multiphase motors and motor.2. Established of a five-phase induction motor mathematical model in the three-linecoordinate system. Derived the equations of motion motor third harmonic and fundamentalconsideration under the joint action. Using finite element software ansoft maxwellsimulation model five-phase induction motor.3. Finished a five-phase program designed electromagnetic induction motors,derived several different parameters of five-phase induction motor with three-phase motordesign. Analysis the five-phase induction motor magnetic potential harmonic after injection three harmonic.4. Used the finite element analysis software Maxwell on the paper prototypesimulation analysis. Comparative analysis of the simulation results of three-phase motorsand five-phase induction motor and the third harmonic conditions before and after theinjection of several different operating characteristics of the motor, verify thereasonableness of the theoretical analysis.
