Rice is one of uppermost grain crops in our country. It is important to maintain stable rice yield for food security, but rice yield per unit of area was not increased in recent years. If we want to solve this problem, we have two means:variety improvement and application of integrated high-yielding cultivation techniques, namely combination of improved variety and relevant cultivation techniques. Many new rice varieties with high-yielding potential were bred as new breeding techniques used, however, relevant high-yielding cultivation techniques were absent for the varieties. Rice high-yielding cultivation techniques mainly include planting density, seedling number in a single-point and nitrogen application. It is very important for increasing yield and spread to new rice variety’Hong Liang You166’ that the suited high-yielding cultivation techniques were studied according the variety traits. To compare different planting density on growth, agronomic and yield traits in rice variety’Hong Liang You166’, a study was conducted at a test site in Zhang, village industrial estate, Jiangning, Nanjing in2007. The results showed that percentage of earbearing tiller of population was highest in planting density of13thousand/667m2, which reached79.8%. Although the highest tiller number was found at density of16thousand/667m2, percentage of earbearing tiller was reduced. Too high tiller number would result in advance of validly critical leaf stage, increase of invalid tiller number, and fall of valid tiller number, which induced the decrease of yield. To compare different seedling number in a single-point (one, two, or three seedlings per point) on yield potential, growth period, and dynamics change of dry matter accumulation in rice variety’Hong Liang You166’, a study was conducted at a test site in Zhang village industrial estate, Jiangning, Nanjing in2007. The results showed that yield potential was close correlation with seedling number in a single-point, and the highest was found in the treatment of two seedlings per point. Population tiller number was increased with increasing seedling number in a single-point, but dry matter accumulation after tassel was reduced as following order:two seedling number>one seedling number>three seedling number. Yield was more interrelated with valid tiller number compared with other yield compositions. Two seedlings per point made for structuring big population with high photosynthetic efficiency, however, three seedlings per point resulted in being shaded by foliage of population, which would make against photoassimilation accumulation in later growth period. To compare different nitrogen application on yield and yield compositions in rice variety’Hong Liang You166’, a study was conducted at a test site in Zhang village industrial estate, Jiangning, Nanjing in2007. The results showed the highest yield was found in the treatment ofl8kg N/667m2. According to yield compositions, nitrogen application mainly affected the valid tiller number, and then setting percentage and thousand-grain weight.
