Study On Introduction Of Figs And Their Corresponding Cultivation Techniques In Putian City Of Fujian Province

‘Meiliya’,‘Bojihong’,‘Qingpi’,‘Ribenziguo’ and ‘Fengchanhuang’ fiveintroduced cultivars of figs (Ficus carica L.) in LinShan Ficus carica base ofLüyang Agricultural development corporation Ltd., Putian, Fujian province were usedas experimental materials. A method of field investigation combined with laboratorydata was carried out. The site conditions, phonological phases, botany characteristics,disease and insect resistances and the rates of fruit cracking of Ficus carica wereinvestigated, and the fruit quality was determined. At the same time, thecorresponding cultivation techniques and ways of planting Ficus carica were putforward by surveying the fig orchard since it was set up. The results were as follows:1. The five introduced figs were all capable of growth, flowering and bearingfruit under the present climate condition and cultivation techniques. The ‘Meiliya’,‘Bojihong’, and ‘Fengchanhuang’ were finest which had strong tree vigors anddisease and insect resistances, the time of bearing was long, and the yields were high.The fruits of ‘Meiliya’, and ‘Bojihong’ were the biggest of three, the average singleweight was66.3g and67.4g (‘Ribenziguo’ and‘Qingpi’ was41.3g and31.1g,respectively). The total soluble solid contents were higher which reached16.3%and16.8%，and ‘Fengchanhuang’ had the highest total soluble solid contents whichreached21.4%. The fruit cracking of ‘Meiliya’,‘Bojihong’, and ‘Fengchanhuang’were lower, which reached1.2%,0.9%and1.5%(‘Ribenziguo’ and‘Qingpi’ was55.7%and2.4%, respectively).‘Meiliya’,‘Bojihong’ and ‘Fengchanhuang’ weregood highest disease resistances for leaf spot, anthracnose and branch blight. It wasconcluded that ‘Meiliya’ and ‘Bojihong’ were most suitable for fresh-keeping whileplanted in Putian, Fujian province,‘Fengchanhuang’ had many virtues such as veryproductive, high total soluble solid content, high resistances of diseases and insects,and also less fruit cracking with thick pericarp which made it adaptable to be used asprocessing when be planted in Putian.2. LinShan Ficus carica base was adaptable to the growth of Ficus carica whichowned the general climate characteristics with Putian, Fujian province, such as acomfortable climate, warm and dank weather, pollut-free environment and adequate water. The five Ficus carica have grown and developed well since were introducedto Putian in2009by using the corresponding cultivation techniques. The yieldincreased year by year, and there were no cold injury, drought injury and seriousdiseases and insect injury. It showed that five Ficus carica cultivars were appropriateto be planted at Putian. The corresponding cultivation techniques and ways in thisresearch including orchard site selecting and planning, seedling methods, themanagement of soil, fertilizer and water, pruning and training, diseases and insectscontrol etc..
