Abstract/Summary:
Iron is an essential micronutrient for plant, involved in plant pHysiological and biochemical reactions. Iron-deficiency chlorosis (IDC) is a common nutritional disorder for citrus, seriously affecting the yield and quality. Correction of IDC is commonly carried out by applications of Fe compounds to soils. Different iron compounds has different efficience, and different citrus rootstocks for iron absorption and utilization efficiency are also quite different. Plant mainly absorb Fe2+, but Fe2+is rapidly immobilized in the soil. Appropriate choice of iron fertilizer for the citrus is an important question to be solved. In this study the effect of five different iron fertilizer for citrus rootstocks and Newhall navel orange are compared. The results are as follows:1. Correction for IDC of citrus rootstocks with different iron fertilizer(1)ShootThe plant height、 number of leaves、stem weight and leaf dry weight of Trifoliate orange with EDTA-Fe treatments are the largest. But for Red tangerine, the iron ions protection agent treatment is the best in plant height and number of leaves.(2) RootFor Trifoliate orange, EDTA-Fe treated in root length, total root number, total root surface area, total root volume, root dry weight are the largest with EDTA-Fe treatment. Effects of different iron fertilizers on root in Red tangerin is hardly any significant.(3) chloropHyll contentNew leaf chloropHyll content in Trifoliate orange with ferrous gluconate is the highest, followed by iron ions protection agents and EDTA-Fe. But for Red tangerine, The chloropHyll content with different iron fertilization is relatively close.(4) active iron content:The active iron content of the new leaves in Trifoliate orange with ferrous gluconate is highest. But for Red tangerine:Active iron content of leaves with iron ions protective agents treatment are higher than ferrous gluconate treatment. 2. Correction for IDC of Newhall with different iron fertilizerAfter50days of treatment, yellow index of Newhall with EDTA-Fe treatment decreased30.54%, chloropHyll content and active iron content increased by76.47%and43.37%, Newhall have the best effect with EDTA-Fe.
