This research is one of the modeling and Simulation of plant biological function, which belongs to the category of virtual plant research, the Project (60971115) aims to explore the soil compaction effect on the structure of underground organization of the various typical plant. Further study of the relationship of soil compaction and cuttings root growth.The key to the survival of cutting propagation was cutting organization rooting (shoot cutting, root cutting, bud cutting and leaf cutting. etc.). Rooting of the cutting plant and soil property is closely related, Which, human factors (using agricultural machinery) and natural factors (rainfall) which was the principal influencing factor lead to soil compaction Therefore, the study of soil compaction effect on the cuttings root growth has a certain academic value and the value of production guidance.According to the characteristics of cutting plant roots of growth along the vertical axis, design cutting plant cultivation experiments in this paper, using soil bulk density as measure of soil compaction degree to make clay pot, put grid on it, observation and measurement of cutting plant root configuration parameters in clay pot under different soil compaction, such as the time that root grow out of soil, the volume and number of root, soil compaction effect combine with cutting plant roots grow in the simulation platform, analyze the change that soil compaction effects on cutting plant root architecture parameters.The study select the representative plants (Rose, Salix) for cutting experiments, qualitative and quantitative analysis cuttings plant roots parameters of grouping experimental.Secondly, according to the characteristics of the cutting plant roots, based on fractal theory and topology of the root to model and simulate, Visual c++language development environment, with Direct9.0as graphics library, develop the simulation platform for cuttings underground root system. Put parameters which root architecture under different soil compaction degree of experiment in simulation platform, the3D graphics and simulation parameters can be obtained under soil compaction degree, such as root system piercing speed, piercing position, the longest root, root volume, quantity and other parameters. Finally, the analysis and comparison of experimental and simulate data of rose and Salix two typical garden flowers plants under different soil compaction degree.The result of experiments and simulation shew that experiment and the simulation of the root volume, root number decreases with increasing soil compaction, soil bulk density degree increase from1.0g/cm3to1.2g/cm3,the volume of root reduce to68.03%,the rate of root growth reduce to71.9%,the number of root reduce to57.4%.The conclusion be obtained, the bottom surface of root tip of mechanical resistance impede the root growth, roots have to bend and increase radius in order to overcome critical value of soil resistance, the length of roots is reduced. the soil compaction effect on cuttings plant root growth significantly the high Soil compaction degree, the more impeded the root growth.
