This experiment was conducted to study effect of different Planting Density on the growth, dry matter,sugar content and yield, to maximize Planting Density, sugar content and yield with analysis of variance andcorrelation with sweet sorghum ’Xingaoliang No9’ in Xinjiang. The results were as follows:The Growth of sweet sorghum was slowly at seedling stage, it began to grow rapidly from the elongationstage with all treatments, but its height was not significant difference among treatments; the dynamic of age andnumber of leaf were consistent with different planting density and were “slow growth'rapid growth'lagphase” in the whole growth period. The age and number of leaf were increase and diameter per stem, freshweight of per plant was higher as planting density decreased. The yield and growth were highest with optimumplanting density.The dynamic of dry matter per plant was in low to high trend and was varied with different plantingdensity, the range were83000plants/hm~2>104000plants/hm~2>139000plants/hm~2>208000plants/hm~2, the rangeof dry matter accumulation per area were208000plants/hm~2>139000plants/hm~2>104000plants/hm~2>83000plants/hm~2.The yield of sweet sorghum was varied with planting density significantly. The staw yield and biomassyield of treatments of208000plants/hm~2,139000plants/hm~2were significantly higher than that of treatments of104000plants/hm~2,83000plants/hm~2. The staw yield and biomass yield of treatment of208000plants/hm~2washighest and was149.5t/hm~2and121.3t/hm~2, But the treatment of208000plants/hm~2was lodging seriously andmildewed and was bad quality for harvest; the biomass yield of sweet sorghum were greatly influenced by thetiller, the biomass yield of sweet sorghum were higher with removing tiller for higher planting density orkeepping tiller for lower planting density.The brix of sugar had no significant difference with different planting density; the yield of sugar variedwith with planting density; the yield of sugar with the treatments of208000plants/hm~2,139000plants/hm~2,104000plants/hm~2was higher than that of treatment of83000plants/hm~2.The optimum planting density was treatment of139000plants/hm~2for considerating with the growth anddry matter accumulation, yield, sugar content, stress-resistance of sweet sorghum.
