For exploring the polymorphisms of sheep BMPR-IB gene on reproductiveperformance and improving the reproductive performance of sheep to provide somescientific theory through this study for the future,278adult sheep (Texel sheep, PollDorset sheep, German Merino sheep, Small Tail Han sheep, Tibetan sheep andHybrid of Small Tail Han sheep) were chosen as the research object, the PCR-RFLP,PCR direct sequencing and PCR-SSCP were be used to research the polymorphism ofBMPR-IB gene of encoding region and3’ non-coding region and analysed thecorrelations between polymorphism of BMPR-IB gene and Texel sheep reproductiveperformance. The results were showed:(1)The polymorphisms of FecB gene were detected for four sheep breeds(Texel sheep, Poll Dorset sheep, Hybrid sheep, Small Tail Han sheep), it showed thatthe Texel sheep and Poll Dorset sheep had B+and++genotypes, Small Tail Hansheep had BB and B+genotypes and hybrid of Small Tail Han sheep had BB, B+and++genotypes. There were no significant difference on litter sizes in differentgenotypes sheep (P>0.05).(2)Four polymorphism loci were be found in coding region of BMPR-IB geneon different litter sizes of Texel sheep, and those were all synonymous mutation. Twogenotypes (AA and AB) were found in five sheep breeds (Texel sheep, Poll Dorsetsheep, German Merion sheep, Small Tail Han sheep and Tibetan sheep) for BMPR-IBgene coding region of846loci (located in exon7) polymorphisms study, and in whichloci had appeared T/C heterozygous. There were no significant difference on littersizes in different genotypes of Texel sheep (P>0.05), but genotypes were different indifferent litter sizes breeds. The difference was extremely significant between theGerman Merino and Small Tail Han sheep (P<0.01) and the difference was significantin Tibetan sheep (P<0.05), the others were significant difference (P>0.05). Therefore,we could infer that this mutation might be associated with reproductive performancein sheep. (3) Eight polymorphism loci were be found in3′non-coding region ofBMPR-IB gene on different litter sizes of Texel sheep, there were two genotypes (AAand AB) in591and603loci, and appeared G/A heterozygous and C/T heterozygous, respectively. There were no signitifcant difference in different genotype of5breedssheep(P>0.05). There were no significant difference on litter sizes in differentgenotypes of Texel sheep (P>0.05)...
