Roots are not only the main organ for plants to absorb water and nutrients butalso the main competition place of water and nutrients between differentplants. Therefore, the distribution of the roots in the soil is an important factor inirrigation, fertilization and other aspects that influence on fruit production. This experiment take jujube trees with different ground diameter classes as theresearch object, using the excavating method of layer and section to investigate thedistribution of both absorbing roots and leading roots under the condition of floodingirrigation and sandy loam soil. As a theoretical foundation, the distribution willcontribute to establish a rational and effective irrigation system, which includesmethods, amount and position of irrigation,so as to achieve the purpose ofappropriate irrigation.(1) In the horizontal direction, the distribution range of jujube roots with a grounddiameter of3cm is0~200cm away from trunk, and the distribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~125cm while that of leading roots is0~75cm. Comparedwith leading roots, the distribution range of absorbing roots is about50cmbigger.In the vertical direction, the distribution range of jujube roots with aground diameter of3cm is0~140cm away from ground surface, and thedistribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~40cm while that of leading rootsis0~50cm,which is about10cm wider than the distribution range of absorbingroots.(2) In the horizontal direction, the distribution range of jujube roots with a grounddiameter of6cm is0~275cm away from trunk, and the distribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~175cm while that of leading roots is0~75cm. Comparedwith leading roots, the distribution range of absorbing roots is about75cmbigger.In the vertical direction, the distribution range of jujube roots with aground diameter of6cm is0~160cm away from ground surface, and thedistribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~80cm while that of leading rootsis0~80cm,which is basically the same as the distribution range of absorbingroots.(3) In the horizontal direction, the distribution range of jujube roots with a grounddiameter of9cm is0~300cm away from trunk, and the distribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~175cm while that of leading roots is0~125cm. Comparedwith leading roots, the distribution range of absorbing roots is about50cmbigger.In the vertical direction, the distribution range of jujube roots with a ground diameter of9cm is0~160cm away from ground surface, and thedistribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~70cm while that of leading rootsis0~80cm,which is about10cm wider than the distribution range of absorbingroots.(4) In the horizontal direction, the distribution range of jujube roots with a grounddiameter of12cm is0~450cm away from trunk, and the distribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~200cm while that of leading roots is0~150cm.Compared with leading roots, the distribution range of absorbing roots is about50cm bigger. In the vertical direction, the distribution range of jujube roots witha ground diameter of9cm is0~180cm away from ground surface, and thedistribution range of80%absorbing roots is0~70cm while that of leading rootsis0~80cm,which is about10cm wider than the distribution range of absorbingroots.(5) With the increase of the ground diameter, the distribution range of jujube rootsalso increases. the horizontal distribution range of absorbing roots is about50~75cm wider than leading roots, while in the vertical direction, the distributionrange of leading roots is about0~10cm deeper.
