Drip irrigation is one of the better irrigation techniques as the water-saving effect, it ismore widely used in Israel, Australia and other countries in arid areas. In nearly30years,drip irrigation has got more attention and great development in our country. Emitter is thecore function part in drip irrigation system, its performance has a huge impact on theeffect of whole drip irrigation system. However, the shape of emitter is not only tiny, butalso more complex transition, its state of flow passage is complex. So it is extremely strictresearch and manufacturing. Initially,our country mainly introduced or imitated foreignproducts. At the moment we improve the existing products under considering our nationalconditions, but with less independent development of new emitters now.Aimed at the traditional method of long period and too high cost to develop a newstyle emitter, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation method,combine with the experiment is used to imported labyrinth drip head structure design,hydraulic performance test and other aspects of the new many inlets emitter in this paper.First, the multiple import labyrinth drip head of CFD numerical simulation model isestablished. Through to analysis the hydraulic performance with different setting ways ofFLUENT software solver, contrast the results of numerical simulation with the measuredvalues, the setup method with higher precision is made. Then, analysis the designaccording to the experience of many inlets labyrinth drip head flow channel structureoptimization design through the CFD numerical simulation method, to shorten thedevelopment cycle and reduce development costs. Finally, analysis effect of inletstructural parameters to the performance with the hydraulic performance tests andorthogonal experiment of structural parameters, verify the emitter anti-cloggingperformance. What’s more, the results proved CFD numerical simulation method can beused to design flow channel structure optimization.Research results show that the design of many inlets labyrinth emitter hasappropriately rated flow rate,a better flow index and strong anti-clogging performance.The CFD numerical simulation method can effectively shorten the development cycle and reduce cost. It provides a more effective guidance to develop new emitter.
