Poultry visual system was highly developed. So artificial lighting became the main illuminating pattern in poultry houses in the modern-scale farming. LED light-emitting diode, the new light source, gradually become the main alternative light source, which would be applied widely in the livestock breeding because of the benefits of low energy consumption, long lifetime and easy to regulate. To comprehensively evaluate the effect of different LED light colors on poultry, this study conducted with offspring female and male breeders and broilers of parent breeder which received white, red, yellow, blue, green LED light, investigated performance of offspring breeders under the5different colors of LED and offspring broilers under yellow LED. This paper proposed theoretical basis for LED applying to poultry breeding.Main objectives and results were as follows:(1) Compared the performance of breeders’ offspring female breeders under the LED light of different colors, showed that LED Red and Green light performed better. LED Red advanced the age of50%percent laying rate with higher fertility rate. Furthermore, the highest hatchability rate (p<0.05), the highest average weekly laying rate (p<0.05) and the lowest number of deformity and soft-shell eggs appeared in the laying period. LED Green delayed the age of50%laying rate but showed high fertility rate and better (p<0.05) egg quality indicators, such as eggshell thickness, egg weight and Haugh unit. Therefore, LED Red and Green should be chosen according to different objectives in practical application.(2) Compared the performances of breeders’ offspring male breeders under the LED light of different colors, showed that LED Blue light contributed to better sperm quality. Though LED Red light advanced the age of sexual maturity and gained body weight obviously (p<0.05) during the former living period, it had a poor sperm quality. LED Blue delayed the age of sexual maturity, but the indicators of sperm quality, fertility rate and hatchability rate performed better, which is beneficial to breeding and reproduction. (3) Compared the performances of breeders’offspring broilers under LED Yellow with that under incandescent, indicated that parent breeders accepted LED light of different colors had different cumulative effects on the growth of offspring. LED Yellow light promoted offspring broilers’ bodyweight gain and feed consumption. Moreover, both parent breeders and offspring broilers performed better (p<0.05) bodyweight gain under LED Yellow light, which revealed the cumulative effects of light colors.
