In recent years, the condition of water resources in China is facing with a stern fact of shortages and pollution. As a big agricultural country, the proportion of the water consumption in agricultural is more than62%, of which water consumption in planting industry is about80%. Scientific and efficient use of agricultural water resources is an important measure to achieve sustainable development. Food production is related to native living standard and national food security, and satisfaction of water requirement of main food crops has a major impact on food production. Water issues especially water issues in planting crops must be addressed first in food security management. This study analysis water requirement satisfaction of6main food crops like spring wheat, winter wheat, corn, early rice, middle rice, late rice spatially and temporally based on data of precipitation, water supply and water use, as well as large numbers of studies in water requirement of crops. Research results including space pattern of precipitation meeting water requirement under the existing cropping system, and satisfaction of regional agricultural water on crop water requirement under the current planting scale. The results help guiding water developments and utilization of water resources, as well as making agricultural decisions. As a result it is beneficial to the regional sustainable development. In accordance with the research contents above all, this paper concludes following five chapters:The first chapter is a simply introduction, introducing the background, purpose and also the significance of research mainly, progress of the research. However, the research main contents and technical route are introduced as well. The second chapter includes the principles and methods, including the theory of agricultural water resources, crop growth period, crop water requirements and models of crop water demand and supply. Data sources and data processing methods are specified as well. The third chapter is the empirical analysis. This chapter is the description of the empirical analysis process. Spatial and temporal distribution of major food crops, typical month precipitation, water requirement of crops are visualized with GIS as a platform. From two different dimensions of time dimension and space dimension, water requirement satisfaction patterns of China’s major crops are presented and to reasons for these patterns are generated. The fourth chapter is results and discussion parts, results are summarized and discussed in this study. Shortcomings in data processing, theoretical basis and the results expressions are pointed out.The fifth chapter is the conclusion and suggestions.
