Lagerstroemia balansae was a kind of Lythraceae Lagerstroemia plant, which located in Laos, Vietnam,Thailand and China. It only locates in southwest low altitude mountain rain forests in China. This tree looked graceful, and it’s color was gorgeous and colorful, also a good species of landscape. Due to rubber and other tropical crops and economic forest of the large area planted and extended, mountane rain forest of the secondary vegetation,in hainan was unprecedented developed and utilized. Lagerstroemia balansae habitat was losing gradually. The resources were endangered. This article studied habitat survey, flowering phenology, pollination ecology, breeding system, the factors influencing seed germination of Lagerstroemia balansae in several aspects, discussing the propagation characteristics of the species, and corresponding conservation strategies were put forward. The main conclusionswere as follows:(1) Lagerstroemia balansae mainly distributed in low altitude (100-500) in mountain forests. In this area, we serveyed23samples, recorded23tall trees,17kinds of shrubs and1vine, which belonged to25families,37genera, totally41. It included18families,21genera and23species of arbor plants.Shrub plants belonged to12families,15genera and17.Vines plants was1family and1genera.One more for euphorbiaceae contains five genera and six trees. Sumac and moraceae were2genera,3species Most of the rest was a single family. Lagerstroemia balansae, Terminalia hainanensis and Moraceae Taxotrophis aquifolioides and Croton laevigatus Vahl were the original habitat of dominant species. Human activity had serious destruction to their habitat. Survey area were not found Lagerstroemia balansae seedlings and seed germination rate was very low in the field.(2) Lagerstroemia balansae bloom once a year. Single flower starting from the bud flowering quickly expanding to fade time was4.58±2.45d (n=30).The single flower blooming in accordance with the morphological characteristics can be divided into early bud stage, first flowering, full flower and wilt flowering.(3) Pollination insects had A. zonata, A. Florea, ant and beetles. A. zonata, and A. florea. access to the highest frequency, followed by A. zonata, were the main pollinators of Lagerstroemia balansae..(4) Lagerstroemia balansae was not automatic pollination and apomixis phenomenon.Artificial pollination rate was higher with the natural pollination rate of significant difference (p<0.05). The processing rate of self-pollination had no significant difference (p>0.05). (5) When mature seeds of Lagerstroemia balansae just ruptures, the seed vigorwas low and germination rate was low too. When they were stored for a certain time, seed vigor and germination rate were significantly improved. It showed that the seed had certain physiological delayed ripening phenomenon, which was possiblly because seed embryo was not yet fully developed. With storage for some time, the embryo could develop completely. The seed could be short-term storage with appropriate4℃low temperature storage and favorable storage life6~8months. Room temperature dry storage technology could achieved long-term preservation of germplasm resources.(6) Lagerstroemia balansae seed had certain dormancy that a certain concentration of GA3, TDZ, IAA could effectively promote the seed germination and seedling growth.With200mg/L of GA3treatment concentration, the seed germination potential, germination rate were the highest. Seedling, plant height, number of lateral root, the longest length of lateral root and other indicators were also relatively good with healthy seedlings, followed by concentration of0.02mg/L of TDZ treatment as the next with ideal seed germination effect and healthy, seedling and with200mg/L IAA treatment as the final.(7) Seedling by artificial breeding of Lagerstroemia balansae had good adaptability to the environment with high survival rate and no requirement to soils, suitable for large area of cultivation and breeding.
