Hubei Shishou Milu National Nature Reserve, one of the three bases of Pere David’s deer in China, has the world’s largest wild deer populations. But after2010, the outbreaks of epidemic diseases lead to mass deaths of Pere David’s deer (Zhang Linyuan,2011). This study surveyed the potential pathogens by isolating and identifying the pathogenic bacterium and parasite of Pere David’s deer, and designed to provide a reference for disease prevention.E. coli as a conditioned pathogen, always pose a threat to the health of Pere David’s deer. Tissue samples were collected and plated onto agar media on this study. As a result,15pathogenic Escherichia coli in Pere David’s deer were isolated and identified by bacterial culture, biochemical assays and pathogenic test. According to the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method, drugs resistance of15pathogenic isolates were tested using14antibiotics. The highest sensitivity rate of6drugs was over60%, which were gentamicin, kanamycin, cephalosporins, chloramphenicol, neomycin and streptomycin. As for penicillin, vancomycin, clindamycin and sulfadiazine, they showed little effect on retarding bacterial growth. This study would provide reference for clinical use of drugs for Pere David’s deer. Besides, for exploring the pathogenesis of15pathogenic Escherichia coli in Pere David’s deer,12virulence genes (fimH, kps Ⅱ, papC, tsh, iss, iucD, irp2, vat and sat) which reported by Ewers.C were chosen to detect the virulence factors of the isolated Escherichia coli. Arranged in order of frequency according to amplify ompA (100.00%), traTa (80.00%), iss (80.00%), iucD (60.00%), irp2(53.33%), sta (33.33%), vat (20.00%).Parasitic disease was one of the common diseases of wild animals, and always reported as a negative factor on the population growth of the Pere David’s deer.145feces samples were examined intestinal parasite eggs. As the parasite infection rate, trematoda (67.58%) was significantly higher than nematode, cestoda and coccidian. The eggs of Paramphistomum cervi T.pisiformis and Eimeriidae were deteted in the highest frequence. Besides, schistosomiasis and Cryptosporidium were never detected in all145fecal samples.
