| Objective: To evaluate the validity and safety of compression anastomosis ring(CAR)in laparoscopic surgery for rectal cancer. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical data consisted of92patients whounderwent laparoscopic surgeryfor rectal cancer(Dixon), performed in The FirstAffiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University From January2010to March2013.Divided into CAR group(48patients),staple group(44patients)。The differencesbetween two groups among operation time, postoperative duration of hospital stay, complications such as anastomotic leakage, anastomotic stricture, anastomositis andanastomotic bleeding were compared. Results: Mean operation time of CAR group and stapler group were (215.70±59.58)min and (227.32±50.95) min, respectively, the difference was not statisticallysignificant (t=1.00,P>0.05).Mean postoperative duration of hospital stay of CARgroup and stapler group were (13.68±6.07) d and (13.05±5.12)d,respectively,the difference was not statistically significant (t=0.54,P>0.05).Anastomotic leakagerate of CAR group and stapler group were6.25%(3/48),6.82%(3/44),respectively,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05). Anastomotic stricture rate ofCAR group and stapler group were2.08%(1/48),9.09%(4/44),respectively, thedifference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).None anastomotic bleedingoccurred in CAR group, anastomotic bleeding rate of stapler group was4.55%(2/44),the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Anastomositis rate of CARgroup and stapler group were4.16%(2/48),22.73%(10/44), respectively, thedifference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion: The use of compression anastomosis ring(CAR) in laparoscopic surgeryfor rectal cancer is safe and valid. |
