[Objective] To investigate the expression and correlation of serum vascularendothelial growth factor (VEGF) level pre-and post-transcatheter arterialchemoembolization (TACE) in patients with primary liver cancer (PLC).[Methods] Peripheral blood samples were collected on the day before TACEand on4st,and on the28thdays after intervention therapy from60patients with PLC(male54cases, female6cases,39~73years, mean age54.98±9.05years). One totwo months after TACE, all patients had ultrasonic examinations and three monthsafter TACE had CT examinations to observe the condition of tumor. The correlationbetween the changes of blood serum VEGF level after TACE and metastasis、andlaboratory results and curative effect was studied.[Results] The level of VEGF on4stafter TACE were (485.14±279.76) pg/mland is higher than that on the day before TACE (415.31±209.14) pg/ml,(P=0.004).There was no significant difference in VEGF levels between the patients with on the28thdays after TACE (386.80±207.50)pg/ml and on the day before TACE(415.31±209.14)pg/ml,(P=0.157).39PLC patients serum VEGF levels increasedcompared with on the day before TACE levels on4stafter TACE (group1);but21patients levels increased (group2).The serum VEGF levels decreased on4stafter TACE group have better curative effect than that of increased group (P<0.05). The six month,12month and18-month survival rate were89.7%,67.0%and26.9%,respectively inincreased group. And the decreased group were100%,89.3%, and55.3%.It was nocorrelation between the level of the blood serum VEGF on the day before TACE andthe location, quantity, adventitia of tumor, tumor size, AFP and laboratory results inHCC (P>0.05), but it is correlation with portal vein thrombosis and arterial-portalvein shunting.[Conclusion] VEGF can contribute to the evaluation of the curative effect ofTACE. The serum VEGF levels decreased on4stafter TACE group have good curativeeffect. |
