Objective: To compare the clinical effects of interlocking intramedullary nail(IIN)and locking compression plate(LCP) for treatment of humerus shaft fracture. Methods: From June2009to February2012, a retrospectively analysis wasintroduced in68patients with humerus shaft fractures of the second affiliated hospitalof Dalian Medical University,40male and28female, the youngest is24and the oldestis70,40on average. Traffic accident in16cases,10cases are fall from the height,28cases of falls and tamp injury in14cases.68cases with humerus shaft fractures weredivided into two groups,38cases were treated with interlocking intramedullarynails(IIN group),and30cases were treated with locking compression plate(LCP group).Patients were all followed up for6months to12months after operation. Effectiveness, operation time, intra-operative bleeding, length of stay, healing time and complicationswere analyzed and compared retrospectively. The complications include radial nervepalsy, nonunion and shoulder joint dysfunction. Results: Of38cases of interlocking intramedullary nails(IIN group), the averageduration of operations is75.O±10.2min, Of30cases of locking compression plate(LCPgroup), the average duration of operations is95.0±23.4min; The mentioned differencehave statistical sense (P<0.05). Of38cases of interlocking intramedullary nails(IINgroup), the average intra-operative bleeding is100±20.4ml, Of30cases of lockingcompression plate(LCP group), the average intra-operative bleeding is200±50.6ml;Thementioned difference have statistical sense (P<0.01). The length of stay and healingtime have no statistical sense (P>0.05).The LCP group hasConclusions: According to a retrospectively analysis between lockingcompression plate and inter locking intramedullary nail for treatment of humerus shaft fracture. Both of the two groups have very good clinical effects in the operation. Thereare no difference in intra-operative bleeding, length of stay, healing time between thetwo groups. The average duration of operations in IIN group is longer than LCP groupand the average intra-operative bleeding in IIN group is less than LCP group. The IINgroup follows the Bio-logical osteosynthesis principle in the operation...
