| Objective: Observe the effect of aerosol-assisted heparin on the viscosity of COPD patientssputum. Methods: Sixty COPD patients from ICU were divided into three groups equally and randomly, named as Heparin Group, Ambroxol Group and0.45%NaCl Group. All them were treatedthrough the method of aerosol inhalation. Ambroxol Group and0.45%NaCl Group were thecontrol groups for Heparin Group. Heparin, ambroxol and0.45%NaCl were selected as themedicines for these patients. Their effects on the patients’ sputum are characterized in terms ofα-acid glycoprotein, Ca2+ and pH.Results: When the patients were treated by heparin and ambroxol, the contents of α-acidglycoprotein and Ca2+ decreased and pH value increased, both of which were different from thoseobtained from0.45%NaCl in statistics (P<0.05). There were no statistical differences in thecontents of α1-acid glycoprotein and Ca2+ between heparin and ambroxol (P﹥0.05). But the pHvalue of the patients treated by heparin gradually increased to a plateau, different from the situationof ambroxol (P <0.05). No matter what kind of medicine was used, the visual sputum viscositywould decrease statistically. And heparin group was more effective than another two groups (P <0.05).Conclusion: Aerosol inhalation of0.45%NaCl, ambroxol and heparin could low the viscosity ofCOPD patient’s sputum. But heparin and ambroxol are more effective than0.45%NaCl in thereducing of the sputum viscosity. The change in visual suptum viscosity over the experiment periodhas a considerable difference with those from the detailed parameters. Aerosol inhalation of heparinis safe to the COPD patients. changing for the better and no negative incident happening. |
