Objective: To investigate the effects of oral folic acid on cardiacdevelopment related genes expression of offspring in an experimental model ofcoxsackievirusB3(CVB3) infection of pregnant rats. Method: SD female ratswere randomized into control group, folic acid group, CVB3group and CVB3+folic acid group. Female rats in each group copulated with normal male rats. After natural childbirth neonatal heart were taken and stored in liquid nitrogen.1.Myocardial pathological section observed neonatal rat myocardial injury;2.Theexpression of NKx2.5, GATA-4and TBX5mRNA by RT-PCR was observed;3.The expression of NKx2.5, GATA-4and TBX5protein by Western-blotting wasinvestigated. Results: In pregnant rats injected with CV B3, the myocardial cellinjury was significantly in neonatal rats, under optical microscopy. An increasein NKx2.5, GATA-4and TBX5mRNA and protein level were detected in CVB3group compared with those of control group. The expression levels ofNKx2.5, GATA-4and TBX5mRNA and protein were increased in folic acid+CVB3group compared with those of CVB3group. Conclusion: Folic acidsupplementation can effectively promote the myocardial tissue development ofthe offspring of the rats injected with CVB3....
