Phlegm-reducing and masses-resolving therapy, an important therapeutic method of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was discussed by many doctors from various aspects. This research summarizes its theories and clinical applications based on the historical documents, in order to provide methods for clinical reference.1. ObjectivesThis paper mainly expounds the definition, history, representative syndromes and prescriptions, and clinical applications of phlegm-reducing and masses-resolving therapy, on the basis of summarizing literature of herbal, formula and clinical cases.2. Methods(1) History and philology methodsBibliography methods were used to select required literature from various periods, while history and philology methods were used to explore the origin and development of phlegm-reducing and masses-resolving therapy.(2) Theoretical thinking methodsAnalysis and synthesis methods were used to explore the connotation, characteristic and application of phlegm-reducing and masses-resolving therapy, so as to conclude an exact, clear, comprehensive theory.3.
