Objective:To investigate the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis via The Correlation Study of retinal nerve fiber layer thickness Changes of Multiple Sclerosis and Visual Field. Method:To understand the realationgship between MS group and nomal group in age, gender and intraocular pressure. To analyse the realationgship with different damaged areas of RNFL in age, onset age and gender, same as sexuality. The nerve fiber layer thickness of The top, bottom, temporal and nasal of Retina was Detected and compared in MS Patients and Normal Individual and in MS Patients with normal VF and Normal Individual by OTC method. Using automatic perimeter, the correlation of the retinal nerve fiber layer thickness change and the damage field of vision was also discussed. Result:There was no significant difference in age, gender and intraocular pressure between MS group and nomal group. There was no significant difference in onset age between man and woman, while the course of disease in woman was longer than man. In60cases, there was no significant difference of age, gender and intraocular pressure in MS Patients and Normal Individuals. There was no significant difference of retinal nerve fiber layer damage of MS patients in age and onset age. The course of MS patients with arbitrary bearing damage was longer than that without arbitrary bearing damage. The nerve fiber layer thickness of retina top in MS Patients and Normal Individuals was117.24±10.34μm and140.15±8.24μm (P<0.05), respectively. The bottom was117.24±10.34μm,137.31±10.03μm (P=0.000). The temporal side was74.98±1.21μm,89.9±14.14μm,(P=0.000). The nasal side was89.9±14.12μm,88.45±1.01μm (P=0.000). The nerve fiber layer thickness of retina top in MS Patients with normal RNFL and Normal Individuals was135.00±3.89μm and140.15±8.24μm (P <0.05), respectively. The bottom was131.33±6.34μm,137.31±10.03μm (P=0.000). The temporal side was91.66±9.30μm,89.9±14.14μm,(P=0.734). The nasal side was87.00±8.03μm,88.45±1.01μm (P=0.171). The nerve fiber layer thickness of retina top in MS Patients with normal RNFL and unnormal RNFL was135.00±3.89μm and123.24±10.76μm(P<0.05), respectively. The bottom was131.33±6.34μm,117.05±10.74μm (P=0.000). The temporal side was91.66±9.30μm,72.33±15.96μm,(P=0.000). The nasal side was87.00±8.03μm,61.19±11.47(P=0.000). The nerve fiber layer thickness of retina top in The Multiple Sclerosis with normal visual field and Normal Individuals was128.28±12.31μm,140.15±8.24μm (P<0.05). The bottom was120.31±13.03μm,137.31±10.03μm, P=0.000.The temporal side was78.9±10.12μm,89.9±14.12μm, P=0.000. The nasal side was75.45±14.01μm,88.45±1.01μm, P<0.05. There was significant difference with retinal nerve fiber layer anomaly range with different average field. The average vision damage was increased with the retinal nerve fiber anomaly range. The nerve fiber layer thickness of average became thinner with the increase of optic nerve fiber layer damage range. Conclusion:Best reproducibility was observed in the RNFL detection by OCT method which is helpful for the Multiple Sclerosis Early diagnosis and follow-up observation. The retinal nerve fiber layer thickness could accurately measured by OCT. The change of retinal nerve fiber layer thickness was earlier than that of vision change in multiple sclerosis patient. There was certain corresponding relation between optic nerve fiber layer thickness change and vision defect. There was a good repeatability of RNFL thickness measured by OCT, which contributed to the early diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and follow-up observation. There was relation between optic nerve fiber layer thickness change and course of the disease.
