Objective:To study the diagnostic accuracy of the second-generation dual-source CT detecting left ventricular function parameters:left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), stroke volume (SV), and be compared with echocardiography.Materials and methods:DSCT with retrospective ECG-gated conventional coronary artery scan (CCTA) and echocardiography examinations were performed in60cases with suspected or diagnosed coronary heart disease patients within72hours. Divided into two groups with30patients each one. Group1is the full-dose group (ECG-based non-maximum tube current modulation), group2is non-full-dose group (ECG-based maximum tube current modulation). The indexes (LVEF, EDV, ESV, SV) of left ventricular function were measured. And the correlation of two methods were evaluated also, as well as the image quality scores between group1and group2, While recording the patient’s radiation dose. Results:LVEF, EDV, ESV and SV were calculated by DSCT and echocardiography and the comparison showed a significant correlation with those estimated by chocardiography(groupl:EF r=O.861,EDV r=O.976,ESV r=O.977,SV r=O.950;group2: EF r=0.898,EDV,r=0.947,ESV r=0.963,SV r=O.917;the alues of P wereall less than O.001).The EDV image quality score in group2was signincantly lowerthan group1(P<0.001),but it did not affect the assessment of left ventricular functionparameters, the agreement between CT data of the two groups and echocardiOgraphicresults were good.Consistently,ESV value in group1had statistically different(p=O.038),other indexes calculated by DSCT and echocardiography were notstatistically difierent(P>0.05).The mean patient radiation dose were7.12±2.23mSvin group l,3.70±0.89mSv in group2.Conclusion:Compared with the data measured by echocardiography, the DSCT isable to provide reliable LVEF,EDV ESV, SV results. The EDV image quality score ingroup2was significantly lower than it in group l(P<0.001),but this did not affect thedetermination of left ventricular function parameters, it is to mean,in the case ofnon-full dose scan can get a reliable result of heart function parameters, this will helpreduce the radiation dose of patients....
