ObjectiveThe present report evaluates the efficacy and safety of total thoracoscopic pulmonary segmentectomy for the treatment of early-stage peripheral non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed10patients who received total thoracoscopic pulmonary segmentectomy in The Second Affiliated Hospital of ZheJiang University from January2010to January2013. There were six male and four female patients with a mean age of71.3(55-77)years.the patients preoperative lung fuction mean FEV1measured value/predicted value was61.18%(41%-81.8%),the diameter of the mass of the preoperative HRCT less than2cm.ResultsAll the ten patients underwent total thoracoscopic pulmonary segmen-tectomy successfully without conversion to thoracoctomy or lobectomy. No perioperative morbidity or mortality occurred.Postoperative pathological examina-tions showed lung adenocarcinoma in10patients.The mean operative time was115.7(100-132)min.The mean blood loss was73(50-100)ml.The chest robes were maintained in position for5.6(3-8)d.The mean postoperative hospitalization time was8.5(5-12)d.The mean follow-up was20.7(2-39)months, all the ten patients survived without tumor,no one showed metastasis or recurrent.ConclusionTotal thoracosc-opic pulmonary segmentectomy is a feasible and safety technique to be used selectively for early-stage peripheral non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).
