Objective The G protein regulating factors2(RGS2) has related to thedevelopment of a variety of malignant tumors. We investigated the expressive levelof RGS2protein in cancer tissues, corresponding adjacent lung tissues and normaltissues of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients and the relationship of RGS2protein with clinical pathological features. Then, we explore it‘s role incarcinogenesis and progression of NSCLC and evaluate their clinicopathologicsignificances. Methods Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect theexpressive leves of RGS2protein in83cancer tissues,83corresponding adjacent lungtissues and56normal lung tissues of83non-small cell lung cancer patients. ThenSPSS13.0software was applied for statistical treatment. We analysed the date resultsby Chi-square test and Fisher’s exact probability method to detect the expressiondifferences of RGS2proteins in the lung cancer tissues, the corresponding adjacentlung tissues and normal tissues and its relationship with clinical pathological featuresof NSCLC. Results (1)The positive rate of RGS2protein in non-small cell lung cancertissues (74.7%) was higher than in corresponding adjacent lung tissues (20.5%)and normal tissues (8.9%)(χ~2=78.474, P<0.01).(2) The positive rate of RGS2protein in stage I, stage II and stage (III+IV) was52.9%,67.9%and89.5%respectively, the difference was significant (χ~2=9.341,P<0.01).(3) The positive rate(89.5%) of RGS2protein in the lymph node-positive grope was higher than the rate(62.2%) in the lymph node-negative grope, their difference was significant(χ~2=8.095, P<0.01).Conclusion RGS2protein is higher expressed in NSCLC and associated withmalignant degree of tumor; It play an important role in the carcinogenesis andprogression of NSCLC. RGS2protein might be an important biomarker in theevaluation of the biological behavior of NSCLC.
