Background:105Human adenovirus(HAdV) positive samples were found in our research group from June2009to February2011from hospitalized children with respiratory infection, concluding55cases of HAdV-3,40cases of HAdV-7,4cases of HAdV-5,4cases of HAdV-1,1case of HAdV-55,1case of HAdV-2. However, in the winter of2010-2011, HAdV infection rate increased sharply. The HAdV prone to occur recombination between different serotypes. In order to conform whether the HAdV infection rate increased sharply caused by recombination, this study focused on sequencing analysis of fiber and hexon gene from HAdV-3and HAdV-7.Methods:Nasopharyngeal aspirates were taken from the patients hospitalized in the Department of Respiratory Medicine of Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from June2009to May2011. All of the1780samples were tested by genetic HAdV PCR, and then sequenced HAdV positive samples, looking for Genbank to classify the serotype according to the sequence. The Hexon highly variable region (HVR) and Fiber gene of HAdV-B Positive samples were amplified and sequenced, to build Phylogenetic tree and do similarity analysis of HAdV-3and HAdV-7. Clinical analysis was done on the base of cases with clear classification of HAdV serotype was used as statistical analysis SPSS17.0.Results:HAdV-3and HAdV-7were the main pathogenic serotype that caused acute respiratory tract infection (ARTI) in children of Southwest China. Logestic regression analysis indicated that HAdV-7tended to cause severe pneumonia compared with HAdV-3(OR=0.089,95%CI0.021-0.375). According to Phylogenetic analysis results, no recombinant phenomenon was found. Simplot analysis showed the different sequences between HAdV-7and HAdV-3were focused on the fiber gene.Conclusions:HAdV-3and HAdV-7are the main ARTI pathogenic serotypes in Chongqing region, but cause different severity of pneumonia.
