OBJECTIVE To establish arteriovenous fistula (AVF) animalmodel at the neck of rabbit and to observe the effection of hyperbaricoxygen (HBO) on the blood flow of AVF.METHOD Thirty two of AVF animal model at the neck of rabbitwere set up by using microsurgical techniques, and were randomlydivided into the experimental group and the control group, theexperimental group was given HBO treatment. At the2,8,15,22,29dayafter operation, the blood flow of AVF were detected by using ColorDopple. At the29day after operation, the thickness of neointimal andtunica media in the vein and the expression of MMP–9in experimentalgroup and control group were detected by Using HE staining andimmunohistochemical staining respectively.RESULT1,Seven AVF models are failure, two died of lunginfection in control group, only1died of diarrhea in experimental group.2,At the15,22,29day after operation, the blood flow ofexperimental group were obviously higher than those of control group(P<0.05).3, At the29day after operation, compared with the controlgroup, the thickness of intima and tunica media of experimental groupwere decreased by49.0%and17.3%respectively.4, The expression ofMMP-9in the vien of experimental group decreased by48.4%than thecontrol group.CONCLUSION HBO treatment can enduringly make the bloodflow of AVF stable, reduce the intima and tunica media hyperplasia inthe vein of AVF,and reduce the expression of MMP-9in themalwall.postoperative early HBO treatment can alleviate the dysfunctionof AVF.
