Objective:To observe the effects of Leptin on plasma levels of IL-6andAng-Ⅱin diabetic cardiomyopathy rats. Methods:Thirty rats were intraperitoneally injected with streptozocin (STZ)to induce diabetic cardiomyopathy. Thirty diabetic cardiomyopathy rats wererandomly divided into three groups: the DCM group(n=10);the50μg/kg leptingroup(n=10);the100μg/kg leptin group(n=10). The diabetic cardiomyopathy ratswere given high energy diet in the3groups. The latter two groups were subjectedto leptin at a dosage of50μg/kg and100μg/kg for5days. Rats in normal controlgroups were given normal diet. Serum IL-6,Ang-Ⅱand LVEDP, LVIDd, LVEFwere analysed after12weeks later. Results:There were abnormal cardiac function in DCM rats.Serum IL-6andAng-Ⅱin DCM groups was significantly higher than that of the controls(P<0.01).After the intervention of leptin, the cardiac function decline was more severe whilethe serum IL-6and Ang-Ⅱwas higher than that of DCM groups (P<0.01),andespecially for rats in100μg/kg leptin group. Conclusion:leptin may be involved in occurrence and development ofdiabetic cardiomyopathy, leptin can activates the rennin angiotensin system and inflammatory factors which may be one of the pathologiesis of diabeticcardiomyopathy.
