Three of the curcumin derivative ligand (L1L3) and two of their metal complexes(CuL22and CuL23) were synthesized. The chemical structure of the target ligand werecharacterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonancespectrum (1H-NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS). The single crystal of ligands (L1L3)and metal complexes (CuL22、CuL23)have been cultivated and its crystal structure wasdetermined by X-ray diffraction. The interaction of the metal complexes with ctDNAhas been investigated by using UV-Vis absorption spectra, cyclic voltammetric (CV)measurements and fluorescence spectroscopy. It can be seen that hypochromism wasobtained in the CuL23UV-Vis spectra, and that the redox peak current reduction andpeak potential shifted positively of the CuL23CV spectra with the increasingconcentration of ctDNA, but the position peak of the CuL22under the same conditiondidn’t changed significantly. The system of EB-DNA’s fluorescence intensity could beweakened by CuL23, but CuL23didn’t. The experiment results indicate the CuL23may bebind to ctDNA in an intercalative mode, and that of compared with the properties ofCuL23the CuL22was electrostatic binding mode.
