In recent years, the rapid rise of medical costs has become an importantissue with the health development in China."Difficult and expensive"problems need to be solved. It’s an important topic in the medical fields toexplore a medical services management model which can guarantee thequality of medical care, control health care costs, reduce medical costs andprovide patients with satisfaction. As a new type of medical servicemanagement model that standardized management of the treatment process,clinical pathway (CP) had been extensively spread at home and abroad foryears. CP provides for a disease or surgical treatment processes, services andmedication range in order to achieve the purpose of reasonable inspection,rational drug use, and control medical costs growth. Applied to the diagnosisand treatment process of a single disease, CP may be a relatively effectiveway to standardize medical care and control the health costs growth.As the core of a digital hospital, electronic medical records (EMR)system integrates various clinical subsystems of a hospital and its databasestores all the information about patients’ treatment process. Based on thehuge amounts of data resources in EMR, This study confirmed the length ofstay and treatment services of a disease by statistical analysis of medical advice from EMR. The results of the study could provide a scientific basisfor the hospital to develop a localized CP.First of all, this paper introduces some knowledge about EMR and CP,such as the concept, the application and its development. Then, the authordescribes the steps and methods of data processing when developing the CPof senile cataract in a hospital of Chongqing. This study involves patientswho were accepted phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantationand admitted to the hospital after suffering from senile cataract from January2011to April2012.Patients with a total of421cases, including361cases of monocularsurgery and60cases of binocular surgery, were divided into monoculargroup and binocular group. In this study, doctor’s orders about treatmentservices and medication for both groups were counted. The study consists ofthree parts. First, we established the underlying database of this study inOracle database, and processed data pre-cleaning. Second, the length of stayand the perioperative date was analyzed by SPSS software. Third, the mainclinical services which have been used in the treatment process weredetermined by the Vilfredo pareto principle so as to establish a bivariatetable with specific time and projects. Finally, a senile cataracts clinical pathform of two groups was worked out for patients in the hospital we focused.The results of our study could provide a scientific basis for the hospital todevelop a localized CP.
