| OSAHS is a sleep-related breathing disorder characterized byrecurring collapse of the upper airway, it is common but often ignored bythe patients. OSAHS is characterized by frequent awakenings, disruptedsleep and consequent excessive daytime sleepiness. In recent years, due tothe improvement of living standards, more and more people have obesity.Obesity is one of the most important risk factor for OSAHS, so,prevalence of the disease will increase over the coming years. It is nowrecognized that there is an association between OSAHS and hypertension,metabolic syndrome, stroke, the patients also incur cognitive disorders likememory, planning, attention and executive function. Diagnosis is based onthe clinical manifestations and PSG. The PSG can assess its severity andto guide therapeutic choices. Cognitive function assessment is basedprimarily on a series of scales, CPAP is the preferred treatment forOSAHS, it can improve some cognitive impairments of the patients. Earlydetection and early remedies for OSAHS,not only make the symptoms getbetter, but also slow down the further development of the disease. A better understanding of machanisms underlying the disease could guide us moreeffective in the treatment of patients. |
