Objective:To explore the influence of alternating bladder irrigation on neurogenic bladder’sfunctional recovery and evaluate the safety of alternating bladder irrigation. Methods:Sixty patients with neurogenic bladder(NB) hospitalized in Rehabilitation deptin Nan-Shan Hospital from february2012to february2013were randomly dividedinto the study group (30cases) and the control group (30cases). The control groupwere treated with conventional bladder training method, while the study group wereadded alternating bladder irrigation once a day. Both groups’ urodynamics indexes(maximum cystometric capacity MCC, postvoid residual PVR, maximum detrusorvoiding pressure Pdet.max, maximum urinary flow rate Qmax) were measured beforeand after bladder training. Both groups’ automatic micturition time were noted. Then, two groups’ recovery effects were evaluated. Assessment of the quality of life (QOL)of two groups’ patients was made by using the quality of life rating scale before andafter bladder training. The rate of two groups’ urinary tract infection (UTI) weremonitored. The study group’s vital sign changes and bad reactions were alsomonitored before and after alternating bladder irrigation. Then, the safety ofalternating bladder irrigation were evaluated.Results:1. The security indexes: There was no significant difference in vital sign beforeand after the alternating bladder irrigation(P>0.05). The rate of UTI in the studygroup was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).2. The therapy indexes: There were significant differences in two groups couldbe seen in the recovery rate of bladder micturition function and automatic micturitiontime (P<0.05);There was significant difference in QOL in the study group beforeand after the training(P<0.05).3. The urodynamic indexes: Significant differences in two groups could be seen in MCC, PVR, Qmax and Pdet.max(P<0.05). Comparison between groups showedthat there were no significant differences in PVR and Pdet.max(P>0.05),while therewere significant differences in MCC and Qmax(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Our study showed that alternating bladder irrigation training method canobviously improve the urodynamic indexes (MCC, PVR, Pdet.max and Qmax) ofpatients with NB, and the recovery effects of MCC and Qmax even more better thanthat by the conventional bladder training method.2. Alternating bladder irrigation training method is suitable for patients with NBcaused by various reasons and the curative effect is better than that by theconventional bladder training method. QOL of patients with NB is also significantlyimproved.3. Alternating irrigation of bladder training method is very safe.
