Objective: In this experiment we determine the concentration of S100protein in serum and brain water content and the brain tissue Evan’s blue(EB)content, to konw extent of brain damage and the change of the bloodbrain barrier permeability, to reveal the brian protection mechanisms andintervention effect of ifenprodil that treat cerebral injury of rats that haveexperienced asphyxia cardiac arrest (CA) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR).Methods:(1) The60healthy Sprague-Dawley adult rats wererandomly divided into ifenprodil (IF) group (30) and normal saline (NS)group (30). Establishing models on asphyxia cardiac arrest andcardiopulmonary resuscitation in rats.(2) Injecting ifenprodil into abdominalcavity in IF group and injecting the same volume of NS into abdominal cavityin NS group.(3) Sampling blood from femoral artery according to presettime(1/2h,1h,2h,4h,6h) after successful CPR, and determine theconcentration of S100protein in serum and injecting EB into femoral vein.(4)Killing rats, separating the left and the right sides of the brains, determiningbrain water content and the brain tissue Evan’s blue content.Result:1.In the IF group, brain water content and brain tissue Evan’sblue (EB)content and the S100protein content in serum is less than that of theNS group at the any time point, and at the1/2h,4h and6h, there issignificant difference (P <0.05).2. In the NS group, As the time went on, change of brain water content and brain tissue Evan’s blue content was nosignificant difference (P>0.05); As the time went on, the S100proteincontent in serum had increased since2h and reached the maximum at6h,there is significant difference (P <0.05).3. In IF group, As the time went on,change of brain water content and brain tissue Evan’s blue content was nosignificant difference (P>0.05); As the time went on, the S100proteincontent in serum had reached the maximum since1h later and then reduced, reached the minimum at6h, there is significant difference (P <0.05).Conclusion: Ifenprodil can reduce brain water content, brain tissueEvan’s blue content and the S100protein content of rats have experiencedasphyxia cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In the earlyperiod, ifenprodil can remit blood brain barrier permeability andencephaledema and nerve injury were caused by cardiopulmonaryresuscitation after cardiac arrest in rats.
