Objective: To study the effect of high-frequency low-magnitudemechanical vibration as a countermeasure against osteoporosis or bone lossthrough clinical trial. Methods: One hundred and fifty-three volunteers were endorsed in thepresent clinical trial, including65males and88females. All patients weresubjected to the mechanical stimulus in consecutive four weeks. Detect theirbone mineral density (BMD) and biochemical indicators in the process oftreatment. Results: We found that BMD decreased gradually with aging in patients, who presented severe bone loss or osteoporosis. Low-magnitude mechanicalvibration with35Hz could prevent bone loss or treat osteoporosis effectively, with rare side effecs of blood normal biochemistry. The BMD of distal radius inpatients below65-year old was improved by daily low-magnitude mechanicalsignal in consecutive four weeks, while the osteogenesis was unobvious senilepatents. Conclusion: High-frequency low-magnitude mechanical vibration iseffective in preventing bone loss and against osteoporosis.Female patients maybe more sensitive to this mechanical stimulus in anabolism than males.
