Objective:To study the effect of Butylphthalide on neuronal apoptosis ofthe hippocampus and frontal cortex of the vascular dementia rat andinvestigate the mechanism of Butylphthalide of the model of thevescular dementia rat.Methods:80healthy rats on the model of the vascular dementia rat by thebilateral carotid artery ligation were divided into four groups (shamgroup, surgery group, treatment group and non-treatment group).Drug intervention for7days was given in the1stweek,2ndweek,4thweek and8thweek respectively. The immunohistochemistricalfinding of the rats’ brian tissue was analyzed the difference amongthe four groups was evaluated by SPSS17.0program.Results:Caspase-3expressed in glral cells and neurons. The level ofCaspase-3expression in the VD group was highest at the8thweek. Itis lower in treatment group than in the VD group. Compared with1stweek and2ndweek, it is higher in3rdweek and4thweek. The levelof Caspase-3expression in the sham group is similar to that in non-treatment group. Conclusions:The expression of Caspase-3as the critical factor of nueronalapoptosis in the hippocampus CA1area and frontal cortex of the VDrat significantly increased. The protection of Butylphthalide to thehippocampus CA1area and frontal cortex of the VD rat might berelated to the lower expression of Caspase-3.
