In the big data era, the complexity of disease and differences of genes influence thedrug efficacy. The advent of the era in personalization and accurate treatment should be themost significant improvement for medical science. The meta-analysis was performed toinvestigate the diagnosis value of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) test in Neonatal Sepsis.Neonatal sepsis (NS) is an important cause of mortality in newborns andlife-threatening disorder in infants. Early diagnosis and management of the newborn infantwith NS play key roles in preventing severe and life threatening complications. Our datawere searched and collected from PUBMED, EMBASE and the Cochrane LibraryBetween March1994to August2013. Accordingly,347studies were identified totally, inwhich15articles and23trials were selected to study the Neonatal Sepsis in ourmeta-analysis. The TNF-α test showed moderate accuracy of the diagnosis of NeonatalSepsis both in early-onset neonatal sepsis (sensitivity=0.66, specificity=0.76, Q*=0.74)and late-onset neonatal sepsis (sensitivity=0.68, specificity=0.89, Q*=0.87). We also foundthe northern hemisphere group in the test has higher sensitivity (0.84) and specificity(0.83). A diagnostic OR analysis found that the diversified population may be the majorreason for the heterogeneity.
