Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcome of treatment for the skin scarswith artificial dermis by the visual analog scale (VAS).Methods:81patients with solitary hypertrophic scars underwent operationat the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from March,2012to June,2013were divided into two groups based on the differenttreatment methods: the treatment group (Group A,49cases) performed ahypertrophic scar excision and covered with artificial dermis, two autologousskin graft transplantion; the control group (Group B,32cases) performed ahypertrophic scar thickness skin excision autologous transplantation. The effectof wound reparation was assessed at preoperative and postoperative with VAS,including: skin color, softness, stretch. The data were statistically analyzed. Results: Compared with preoperation, the color, softness, stretch of skin ingroup A were significantly improved at4weeks after surgery (p<0.05).Compared with preoperation, the color, softness, stretch of skin in Group Bwere not significant improved at4weeks after surgery (p>0.05). There were no significant difference between Group A and Group B in skin color, softness, stretch before surgery(p>0.05), on the contrary, compared with Group B, thecolor, softness, stretch of skin in Group A were significantly improved at4weeks after surgery (p <0.05).Conclusion: The method of treating the hypertrophic scar with artificialdermis and split thickness autologous skin graft is good, compared with treatingwith single autologous split thickness skin graft, the color, softness, extension ofthe skin were improved significantly.
