Wang Xiaobo is an outstanding writer in the contemporary literary world whose writingstyle is different from those writers born in the1950s. His unique writing style presents strongindividuality and ideological content. He analyzed the dark side of the society, culture andhistory as well as humanity humorously and thoughtfully. Starting from the black humor whichis the most outstanding feature of Wang’s novels, this paper centers on the the artisticcharacteristic of black humor based on the development history of black humor theories and theexistence of black humor in the novels of China in the “new period”. Starting from narrating thestories, analyzing plots and morals and discussing the characters, this paper makes explanationon Wang’s deeper development on “absurdity” by bantering and teasing in his novels. Combinedwith the classic passages in novels, the writer deliberates on the questions about the significanceof existence and his answers to these questions.
