Paul Auster is a prominent writer in contemporary American.Compared with thestudies in the western countries. academic study on Paul Auster in china not onlystarte late,and most Studies focus on The New York Trilogy. The twelve novels inPaul Auster’s writing are the objects of study, Taking the angle of the death forms,methods of narrative,profound meanings with application of closed reading methodand general study method,the dissertation discusses the constitution of the Theme ofdeath in his novels and the attempt to love and justice beyond death on the good.This dissertation contains four chapters. Chapter one summarizes Paul auster’s lifeexperience and his works,and the academic studies of Paul Auster home and aboardand suggests the necessity of focusing on the theme of death in this dissertation.Chapter two summarizes Paul Auster about the theme of death forms,Consist ofNatural death, Catastrophic death and social death. Chapter three analyses theNarrative Stragety in Paul Auster’s novels,revealing Paul Auster mainly from foundfather tape plot, space construction and nested structure three aspects to show thedeath theme. Chapter four analyses the self lost,the threat of way and transcend death,revealing Love and justice is the way to anscend death. Chapter five is concludingremarks of the dissertation.
