"Luxury consumption" is different from extravagant consumption and excessiveconsumption, it is the higher level to meet the needs of people, which has beendeveloped as not appraise into the neutral words. Luxury consumption incontemporary China’s development presents unique Chinese characteristics, which isthe promotion of market economy, social transformation, rising consumer status andother reasons, there are also the guiding role of intrinsic psychological motivation andconsumerist cultural values, but also by the " Substance dependence " social stage,which with the historical necessity. However, China’s luxury consumption stimulateeconomic growth, meet people’s needs, and enrich the consumer culture, at the sametime, it cause ecological destruction, fair imbalances and personal and nationaldevelopment is impaired. Luxury consumption are reasonable, but it also in excess ofappropriate limits, making it hard to surpass three major difficulties in our country:First, the rise of consumerism, the second is difficult to solve the problem ofinsufficient domestic demand, three in China luxury consumption growth farexceeded the economic strength of countries and the public. These show under theinfluence of Unreasonable pattern of consumption, people demand for luxury goodsis no longer true, but indulge in the pursuit of the "symbolic value", China’s luxuryconsumption does not enter the production-consumption system, emergence ofalienation, its development goes far beyond a reasonable tolerance limits of thecontemporary Chinese productivity and national spending power, luxury consumptionbecomes extravagant consumption and excessive consumption, the Chinese luxuryconsumption desiderate reasonable reunification.Contemporary Chinese luxury consumption present in consumerism andexcessive consumption tendency should be criticized, however, in view of the luxuryconsumption has the inevitable and reasonable, this criticism is not in order to totallynegate the existence of luxury consumption, but to help it surpass the t the plight ofdevelopment, to achieve a rational regression.To achieve this beyond, First of all we should help the general public changeconsumption concept which was consumerism erosion and dismantling theconsumption myth theory which promote the abnormal prosperity of luxuryconsumption, luxury consumption can not achieve happiness, freedom and equality, if excessive respected luxury consumption on the basis of the unequal possession ofsocial wealth, it can ultimately lead to the alienation of consumption and thealienation of human, restricting the effective demand and impede economicdevelopment, cause social conflict. Based on the dismantling of the consumptionmyth theory, We should adhere to the socialist mainstream ideology of the Marxistconcept of consumption-oriented, to build a socialist harmonious consumptionconcept, at the same time, strengthen consumer reform and play the mass mediapublicity guide role in guiding the public to rational, reasonable consume luxurygoods, to achieve the luxury goods production and consumption which is appropriateto our country reality productivity and economic strength of the individual.
