The Research Of Xu Yuan-Zhi Song Creation

Xu Yuanzhi (Jun.1935-Oct.2001) is a famous and top-class national composer of the Korean Nationality of China. He is enthusiastic about music creation in his whole life, integrates the nationality, epochal character and his unremitting pursuit and unique understanding on music into his creation, which makes his music compositions full of his unique style. Mr. Xu created numerous excellent music compositions of different types, e.g. symphony, symphonic suite, violin concerto and songs, among which songs created by Mr. Xu is in the largest quantity and play an extremely important role. By now, his songs have been deeply loved by people, widely spread and sung and highly commended. What’s more, many types of songs composed by Mr. Xu were prized for many times and are quite famous in China. Two vocal songs created by Mr. Xu in1979, namely (Our Life are Flourishing> and<Wanxisha·Mr. Heliuyazi>, were once honored with many great music prizes, e. g. the1st prize and the2nd prize.In this paper,66songs in Album of Xu Yuanzhi-Our Life are Flourishing published by Xuyuanzhi before his death are taken as the main study object. Starting with the melody, the reflection of characteristics of folk music is deemed as the central expansion point of this paper, and song creation features of Xuyuanzhi are thoroughly analyzed and summarized.By study, it is found that Xuyuznhi’s songs are based the traditional folk melody of the Korean nationality and kept pace with the times and created melodies of various themes and types, on the premise of remaining and developing the traditional folk melody. In terms of the application of mode and tonality, Xuyuanzhi was bold in borrowing various characteristics of western music. The more important is that he not only inherited the foundation of the traditional music of the Korean nationality but also creatively carried forward characteristic tones of the music style of the Korean nationality, which reflects the variety of Xuyuanzhi’s songs. In terms of the application of rhythm and meter, xuyuanzhi’s song not only possess the unique long and short rhythm form of the Korean nationality but also rhythm forms of western music, and also the two different kinds of rhythm forms are smartly and flexibly combined together. In terms of the application of music structures, various musical structural forms are selected.From the above study on the music noumenon, we can also find approaches and skills applied by Xuyuanzhi in his songs. These approaches and skills not only reflect the creation concept of xuyuanzhi but also his understanding and pursuit for the beauty of music.This paper is not only aimed at studying characteristics of song creation of Xu Yuanzhi but also providing some referential bases for the further development of the creation of songs of the Korean nationality on this basis, and for the prosperity and development of the creation of songs of the Korean nationality of China.
